The SC monitors the project process, provides a link between local and international partners and advice on setting and holding strategic targets and directions. SC involves representatives of research partners, ISSP researchers, professors, policy makers and management team members. The SC is the highest authority (within the project) when it comes to conflict resolutions. The SC will meet 6 times during the project period. The SC members are available for the ERA Chair project through email and phone calls. In addition, ad-hoc Zoom meetings will take place if necessary. All meetings are documented. The SC consists of 5 members led by the ERA Chair Holder, Prof. Smagul Karazhanov. Prof. Juris Purans, head of the Thin Film Laboratory ensures necessary support to the ERA Chair. Other members of the SC are A-level researchers representing long term partnering universities:
- Prof. L. Österlund, Uppsala University (SE),
- Prof. A. Rougier, Director for Research, Institut de Chimie de la Matière Condensée de Bordeaux (FR),
- Dr. V. Sittinger, Head of Department, Fraunhofer Institute for Surface Engineering and Thin Films IST (DE).
The main responsibilities of the SC are: to adopt strategic decision on project management, financial management, R&D targets, control mechanism and dissemination activities; to confirm that the overall resources used are consistent with, and reasonable for, the work performed; to advise the project team during the preparation of ERC-STRONG, DISTINCT and SECURE strategies, including IP management and exploitation possibilities; to advise ERA Chair Holder recruitment process; to manage project risks and ethical issues risk assessment (including gender balance); to enhance strategic collaboration and facilitate integration into the ERA; to evaluate and promote interdisciplinary cooperation and visibility between different research groups, industrial partners and international and local organisations to establish the proper basis for the successful exploitation of the project results; to provide an external perspective and improve dissemination potential of the project; to participate in SW related public initiatives, i.e. participate in establishment of smart windows Demo Briefing Center beyond the ERA Chair project in Latvia. The SWEB every-day management team includes the ERA Chair Holder, Project Manager, Research Manager and Industrial Manager, thus forming an expert team, who are also leader of the WPs. The management team will meet regularly and report on work progress and alert on any bottlenecks, risks or changes.
