The Smart Windows for Zero Energy Buildings<\/a> (SWEB) team was represented at the 20th International Conference on Thin Films (ICTF 2026), held on 8\u201312 June in Biarritz, France. SWEB researcher Martins Zubkins<\/a> presented the talk: \u201cControlling Photochromism in Rare-Earth Oxyhydride Thin Films via Magnetron Sputtering and Upscaling\u201d.<\/p>\n

The presentation highlighted recent progress in controlling the photochromic properties of rare-earth oxyhydride thin films and in developing magnetron sputtering approaches for scaling these materials from laboratory-scale samples towards larger-area coatings. ICTF 2026 provided an excellent opportunity to exchange knowledge with the international thin-film community and discuss future developments in functional coatings, smart window materials, and scalable deposition technologies.<\/p>\n

The participation and related research activities were supported by Postdoctoral Research Project No. 1.1.1.9\/LZP\/1\/24\/011<\/a>.<\/p>\n
