The Latvian Academy of Sciences (LAS) has announced winners of the annual Science Achievements\u2019 Competition – top twelve achievements were selected from 55 eligible proposals that were submitted for evaluation.<\/p>\r\n
Traditionally the achievements in science are divided in two groups \u2013 fundamental science and applied science; the achievements shortlisted for the winners\u2019 group usually cover a wide scope of research areas \u2013 ranging from solid state physics and robotics, biomedicine, pharmacy and chemistry, engineering and agricultural sciences to literary science, philosophy, and economy.<\/p>\r\n
One of the most important achievements in applied science is the work of LAS full member Juris Pur\u0101ns, Dr.phys. Ilze Aulika, Dr.phys. Boriss Po\u013cakovs, Dr.phys. M\u0101rti\u0146\u0161 Zubkins, Dr.habil.phys. Smagul Karazhanov<\/strong> (Department for Solar Energy Materials and Technologies, Institute for Energy Technology, Norway) \u201cDevelopment of chromogenic materials for smart windows and zero energy buildings\u201d.<\/p>\r\n The scientists from our institute together with researchers from Institute of Materials and Surface Engineering, Riga Technical University, Faculty of Chemistry, University of Latvia Dr.phys. M\u0101rti\u0146\u0161 Vanags, Mg.sc.ing. Guntis Ku\u013cikovskis, Mg.chem. Juris Kostjukovs, Mg.sc. Laimons J\u0113kabsons, LAS corresponding member Anatolijs \u0160arakovskis, Dr.phys. Kri\u0161j\u0101nis \u0160mits, Mg.phys.
