SWEB Project Hosts Workshop with Dr. Alexandre Zimmer on Operando Techniques and International Collaboration

On September 13, 2024, the SWEB project   held an inspiring workshop and seminar featuring Dr. Alexandre Zimmer from the University of Lorraine. The event offered valuable insights into cutting-edge operando techniques and encouraged discussions about international scientific partnerships.

Dr. Zimmer’s presentation, titled “Operando Spectroscopic Ellipsometry Probing Electrochemical Interfaces,” explored the challenges and possibilities of studying electrochemical interfaces with advanced spectroscopic methods. He shared practical advice on designing and using custom-built operando setups, including various cell configurations, which provided attendees with actionable knowledge for their research.

Beyond the technical aspects, the workshop was a platform for broader knowledge exchange. Dr. Zimmer discussed the advantages and hurdles of short-term scientific mobility, offering guidance on organizing productive working meetings and launching early-stage joint research projects. These discussions highlighted the importance of building collaborative scientific networks.

One of the key highlights was the discussion on potential collaborations through International Emerging Actions (IEA), a program by CNRS designed to foster international cooperation. The IEA initiative supports exploring new research topics and partnerships on a global scale. Participants eagerly discussed opportunities for joint projects that align with the SWEB project’s mission to advance scientific innovation and discovery.

This workshop reflects the SWEB project’s dedication to promoting meaningful scientific collaboration and dialogue. By connecting experts like Dr. Zimmer and facilitating discussions on advanced techniques and global partnerships, the SWEB project continues to make strides in the scientific community.
