Dr. Boris Polyakov, WP4 leader within the SWEB project, attended Graphene2025 in San Sebastián, Spain, actively expanding SWEB’s European collaboration network to advance additive manufacturing in line with SWEB Strategy 2030.
SWEB Strategy 2030 aims to transform the ISSP UL Thin Film Laboratory into a European center of excellence in chromogenic and sustainable materials. This transformation requires not only technological progress but also a structured, inclusive, and future-oriented learning environment to attract, develop, and retain scientific talent. The strategy prioritizes deepening expertise, increasing research output through international collaborations, and strengthening intellectual property and stakeholder networks.
Within SWEB, Dr. Polyakov’s group serves as a key hub focusing on smart nanomaterials and additive manufacturing, developing advanced chromogenic materials, nanowire-based devices, and nanomaterials for printed electronics using environmentally friendly methods. Their work integrates nanomaterials with inkjet, aerosol, laser sintering, and 3D printing to enable scalable, flexible, and sustainable electronics, IoT technologies, and energy-efficient devices.
At Graphene2025, Dr. Polyakov presented the group’s latest findings on the role of Al₂O₃ interlayers in the synthesis of ZnS/Al₂O₃/MoS₂ and ZnS/Al₂O₃/TaSe₂ core-shell nanowires, demonstrating their potential in next-generation photodetectors and energy-efficient coatings. His participation reflects SWEB’s commitment to fostering international collaboration while creating a structured learning environment that connects cutting-edge research with practical, scalable applications in Europe’s green and digital transition.
By engaging with global leaders in graphene and 2D materials research, Dr. Polyakov’s activities support SWEB’s vision of building a thriving, talent-driven ecosystem for advanced materials and additive manufacturing in Europe.
